# ShareText.io

> ShareText.io is a free online notepad and clipboard for sharing text and code. Paste your content and get a short link and a QR code in seconds, with no account required. It is a fast alternative to Pastebin, with Markdown rendering, syntax highlighting for 20+ languages, a URL shortener, and a QR code generator.

Common uses: sharing code snippets, logs, and notes; posting text that exceeds chat or social character limits; moving text between your own devices (open the link or scan the QR code on the other device); sending a one-time secret; and sharing information through a printed QR code.

Shares are unlisted: anyone with the link can read them, and they are not indexed by search engines. ShareText has no public API. Shares are created in the web app at https://sharetext.io or with the Chrome extension. To hand text to a person for review before sharing, link to https://sharetext.io/#text= followed by the URL-encoded text; it opens prefilled in the editor and nothing is shared until they choose Create share.

## Features

- Instant sharing: paste text or code, choose an expiration, and get a unique short URL. No signup needed. Ctrl+Enter (Cmd+Enter on Mac) creates the share.
- Markdown rendering and syntax highlighting (JavaScript, TypeScript, Python, Java, Go, Rust, SQL, JSON, YAML, Bash, and more).
- A QR code for every share, plus copy, and download as .txt, .md, or .json.
- Expiration: 24 hours or 1 week without an account; 1 month or 3 months with a free account; 1 year or never with Pro.
- Burn after reading (Pro): the recipient clicks "Reveal message" and the share is deleted as soon as it is opened, so link scanners cannot use it up first. Combine with a password for one-time secrets.
- Password-protected shares and custom URLs (Pro).
- Safety: every share is scanned for malicious URLs, and any share can be reported.

- Anonymous (no account): shares with 24-hour or 1-week expiration, plus a one-time delete link.
- Free account: 1-month and 3-month expiration, share titles, and a dashboard for shares, short links, and QR codes. Shares created anonymously in the same browser tab move into the account on sign-up.
- Pro ($3/month or $20/year): never-expiring shares, password protection, burn after reading, custom URLs, view and click counts, editable QR codes, a scanner that flags exposed API keys and passwords, larger shares (up to 1MB), and no promotional banners.
