Terms of Service

These terms cover your use of ShareText.io, including the text sharing tool, the URL shortener, the browser extension, and paid plans. By using ShareText.io you agree to them. If you don't agree, don't use the service.

Who Can Use ShareText

You must be at least 13 years old, or the minimum age required in your country to use online services without parental consent. If you use ShareText on behalf of an organization, you confirm you're allowed to accept these terms for it.

Your Content

You keep ownership of what you share. You give us a limited license to store, display, and transmit it so the service can work, including generating link previews.
You're responsible for what you share and must have the right to share it.
Anyone with a share link can view the share. Links aren't secret, and they can be guessed, forwarded, or indexed. Don't share passwords, API keys, or other sensitive data you wouldn't want seen.
Expiration and burn-after-reading are best effort. Someone can copy a share before it disappears.

What You Can't Share

Don't use ShareText to share or link to:

Phishing, scams, fraud, or fake customer-support numbers
Malware, malicious scripts, or cracked software
Stolen credentials, leaked databases, or other people's private data
Personal information about a private person, such as a home address, phone number, workplace, school, or family details, shared without their consent (doxxing)
Threats, harassment, or content that encourages violence against anyone
Child sexual abuse material, which we report to NCMEC
Intimate images shared without consent
Content that infringes someone else's copyright or trademark
Spam, or content that is illegal where you or we are located

Also don't try to break, overload, or get around the service's limits, scanners, or security, and don't use automated tools to create shares in bulk or to scrape the service.

How We Moderate

We automatically scan shares to catch abuse. Links are checked against threat lists, and share text is classified by an AI model. We also review reports from users. We may quarantine, remove, or limit access to any share, short link, or account that we believe breaks these terms or the law, with or without notice. If you think we got it wrong, see appeals on our abuse page.

Copyright

We respond to DMCA notices. See our abuse page for what to include. We close the accounts of repeat infringers.

Accounts and Paid Plans

Keep your sign-in secure. You're responsible for activity on your account.
Paid plans are billed through Stripe and renew automatically until you cancel. You can cancel any time from your dashboard, and your plan stays active until the end of the current billing period.
Payments aren't refundable except where the law requires it. If something went wrong, email us and we'll look at it.
We may change prices or plan features. We'll give you notice before a price change affects your subscription.
Paid plans aren't available in countries or to people under US sanctions.

Ending Your Use

You can stop using ShareText any time. We may suspend or close accounts that break these terms or put the service or other people at risk. We may also change or discontinue features.

No Warranty

ShareText is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind. We don't promise the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that shares will be kept for any length of time. Keep your own copy of anything important.

Limitation of Liability

To the extent the law allows, ShareText and its operators aren't liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for lost data, profits, or content. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the greater of what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim or US$50. We aren't responsible for content other users share.

You agree to cover our costs if a claim against us arises from content you shared or your breach of these terms.

Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms. We'll change the date at the top when we do. Using ShareText after an update means you accept the new terms.
