Send workshop attendees to this week's instructions, then next week's notes. Update the destination in your dashboard without printing another code.

How it works
- Enter the page you want people to reach and choose Editable.
- ShareText creates a short link like sharetext.io/l/abc123 and a QR code for it. Download it as PNG, SVG or JPG.
- When plans change, update the destination from your dashboard. The printed code now opens the new page.
Static vs dynamic QR codes
Scroll sideways to see both columns.
| Feature | Static QR code | Dynamic (editable) QR code |
|---|---|---|
| What the code contains | Your destination URL | A fixed ShareText short link |
| Change the destination after printing | No | Yes, from your dashboard |
| Click and scan totals | No | Yes (scans and link clicks are counted together) |
| Works if ShareText is unavailable | Yes | No, scans go through ShareText |
| Price on ShareText | Free, PNG download | Pro, $3/month or $20/year |
Use a static code for things that never change, like a Wi-Fi password card. Use an editable code for anything printed that points to information you might update: event schedules, menus, price lists, signup forms.
Questions
What is a dynamic QR code?
A dynamic QR code contains a short link instead of your final URL. Scanning it opens the short link, which redirects to a destination you can change at any time. The printed pattern never changes.
What is the difference between a static and a dynamic QR code?
A static QR code stores your URL directly, so it can never change and needs no service to keep working. A dynamic QR code stores a short link, so you can change where it goes and count visits, but it depends on the redirect service.
Can I turn a static QR code I already printed into a dynamic one?
No. A static code has its destination built into the pattern. To update it later you need to print a new, editable code once.
What happens to my editable QR codes if I cancel Pro?
They keep working and send people to the last destination you set. Pro is required to change the destination again.
Are new destinations checked?
Yes. Each new destination is checked against Google Safe Browsing and our blocklists before it goes live. If a check fails, the current destination stays in place.
